So much has changed in the last 20 years as a result of the Internet. One of the fallouts of this technology has been brick and mortar stores. When websites were first developed, and company started to use them to market products, it was thought to be a fad. To imagine that people would want to purchase products on the Internet instead of going to an actual shopping center or mall, was unheard of. However, as time is past, it is clear that brick-and-mortar stores are losing the battle and part of the reason for this is Amazon. The largest store in the world, selling millions upon millions of products every year. And they are not just affecting the physical stores. They are changing the way that products are packaged and shipped which can also cause difficulties for workers in warehouses and also may revolutionize how they are delivered. Here are three ways that Amazon is changing the brick-and-mortar industry.
No Need To Leave Your Home
The first way that Amazon has changed things dramatically is providing so much variety, along with product testimonials, motivating people to only want to use this business when they order. Obviously, there are other companies that are also online, but they have paved the way for everyone else. As a result of this, there are malls and shopping centers that are going out of business because they can get enough people to come in.
They Are Changing How Orders Are Packaged
The second way that they are changing things for brick and mortar store industries is that workers are less necessary when it comes to packaging. Much of this, especially with Amazon, is handled by automation. They still need to have people to handle certain aspects, but the machine does a large portion of the packaging process.
They Are Changing How Orders Are Shipped
Finally, Amazon is also changing how orders are shipped. Drivers may not be as necessary as they are today. That is because they are working on drone deliveries, deliveries that will bring packages right to the doorsteps of those who have made the purchase, eliminating the need for drivers.
Although there will always be a need for human beings for certain aspects of selling products, Amazon has changed so much. Due to automation, and modern technology, workers are becoming less necessary. On top of that, they are making it difficult for other companies to compete, causing many to close their stores or go out of business. They are changing the way we do business as Walmart did decades ago, but this is due to modern technology.
