The 3 Ways Amazon Is Changing The Brick Store Industry

So much has changed in the last 20 years as a result of the Internet. One of the fallouts of this technology has been brick and mortar stores. When websites were first developed, and company started to use them to market products, it was thought to be a fad. To imagine that people would want to purchase products on the Internet instead of going to an actual shopping center or mall, was unheard of. However, as time is past, it is clear that brick-and-mortar stores are losing the battle and part of the reason for this is Amazon. The largest store in the world, selling millions upon millions of products every year. And they are not just affecting the physical stores. They are changing the way that products are packaged and shipped which can also cause difficulties for workers in warehouses and also may revolutionize how they are delivered. Here are three ways that Amazon is changing the brick-and-mortar industry.

No Need To Leave Your Home

The first way that Amazon has changed things dramatically is providing so much variety, along with product testimonials, motivating people to only want to use this business when they order. Obviously, there are other companies that are also online, but they have paved the way for everyone else. As a result of this, there are malls and shopping centers that are going out of business because they can get enough people to come in.

They Are Changing How Orders Are Packaged

The second way that they are changing things for brick and mortar store industries is that workers are less necessary when it comes to packaging. Much of this, especially with Amazon, is handled by automation. They still need to have people to handle certain aspects, but the machine does a large portion of the packaging process.

They Are Changing How Orders Are Shipped

Finally, Amazon is also changing how orders are shipped. Drivers may not be as necessary as they are today. That is because they are working on drone deliveries, deliveries that will bring packages right to the doorsteps of those who have made the purchase, eliminating the need for drivers.

Although there will always be a need for human beings for certain aspects of selling products, Amazon has changed so much. Due to automation, and modern technology, workers are becoming less necessary. On top of that, they are making it difficult for other companies to compete, causing many to close their stores or go out of business. They are changing the way we do business as Walmart did decades ago, but this is due to modern technology.

Reason Why We Love The Ocean So Much

Ocean View Photo

During the season in Myrtle Beach South Carolina, you can hear the voices of families, specifically children, laughing and carrying on. It’s a noise that goes all day into the night, each day for not just the summer but part of the spring and fall months, too. During the off-season, it’s a different sound that takes over, that of the ocean itself. You can sleep with your balcony door open and listen to the waves. While both sounds are the best and thoughts that will make you smile, it’s not these traits of the oceanside scene and atmosphere that ultimately draw us to the ocean.

Our culture has developed into one that vacations on the ocean, preferably in most people’s cases. Oceanfront properties are the most expensive, nevermind the threat of hurricanes. My dream was to live on the ocean as a writer, something I’m currently enjoying in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. So while I can tell you many reasons why we love the ocean so much just like everyone else can, let’s get to the root of things first.

People are drawn to the ocean because it’s the unknown. Next, you can say they are drawn to it because it is majestic and beautiful. Those are universal reasons. After that, you have to branch out into how that has developed our beach culture and how each person fits the mold, or not. You see, everyone would agree that the ocean is majestic and beautiful and that the unknown fascinates them. But, not everyone likes going to the beach, plain and simple.

Poll the population, and sure, the majority are beachgoers. Many of them daydream about teleporting to the beach when they are working. Okay, we’ve established the base reasons why we all love the ocean so much. We would come up with the base reasons ourselves, but remember we have that backup beach culture influencing our minds, too.

I’ll tell you from my experiences why I love the ocean so much. I live on the oceanfront and work from home writing. Do you remember how this article started? It talked about the sounds of the seasons. You see, that sounds like the vacation to most people, but it’s my forecast. Take it from someone who lives on the ocean year round. That forecast and everything that comes with it, well, it just doesn’t get any better than that. Sometimes you wonder if dreams that come true will live up to your imagination. The ones that do blow your imagination away.

4 Good Reasons Why Every Business Should Run Background Checks

When a customer hires a contractor, whether it be a carpet layer, appliance tech, or housekeeper, they have a reasonable expectation of not being a victim of crime. They should always ask the company if they run background checks on all of their employees and if they are insured in case of theft, vandalism or other problems. This should be a wake-up call to any employer that has people working inside or around the homes of their clients.

Insurance Companies Like To Know Who The Are Covering

When an employee turns criminal and steals from a client, it’s usually the insurance company that has to pay the damages. For that reason, it’s always best to do background checks on all of your employees before you hire them so that you not only protect your clients but also keep your good insurance rating.

Once you’re known to hire people in bad reputation, not only will your insurance rates go up, but you may have trouble even getting coverage at all. In addition to that, if the customer goes on the Internet and leaves some bad reviews about thievery, robbery, assault, or other problems, the reputation of your business is bound to suffer badly. People are using online review sites more every day.

You Can Do Preliminary Background Checks Online

There is quite some background check companies available online where an employer can run a quick check to verify information and get criminal histories. While these services are great for a quick check, and fairly inexpensive on a monthly basis, they aren’t entirely reliable in the long run.

You’re always better hiring a professional service to do a thorough job of checking. Since you have a lot at stake, your reputation, your clients well being, and your insurance rating, it’s up to you to chose a strong background checking company. One with a guarantee that if something does happen because they missed a criminal history report, they’re liable.

This can be expensive, but then so is your reputation as an honest businessperson. In addition to that, being sued by a client that has been attacked or damaged in some way, can lead to huge settlements that could break your business in half. So using the tools that are available online and then going the next step for those that pass the preliminary check is the wise business move.

It also must be said that any discrepancies that are found in the first background investigation can help weed out employees that have lied on their resumes and applications. This can help save a lot of time for the hiring manager since people that lie in one instance will tend to lie in others as well. Plus, anything that can quickly reduce the long list of applicants while helping your company’s reputation is a good move all the way around.
